Rwanda - Genocide SurvivorsMohammad Bajeneza, 48 years, HIV positive and living with TB amidst other patients and survivors of the Rwandan genocide, lies in the Rwamagana Hospital in Rwamagana district, East Province, Rwanda on Nov. 22, 2008. Mohammad explained how his three children were killed in front of him at the start of the genocide in eastern Rwanda. His neighbor, who had been a friend and who worked on Mohammad's banana plantation, came to his house, and said "I am taking your sons, and they will be my meat for dinner tonight." Mohammad explained that he was forced to watch his children be cut into pieces, while he pleaded to be killed in their place--his neighbor spared him, but not his children. He doesn't remember much after that, and his wife disappeared, possibly suffering mental tauma.
