Peruvian inspired fashion by Schiaparelli

Fashion inspired by the Las Tapadas, ladies of eighteenth century Lima in Peru, whose mode of dress was influenced by the Incas ad Moorish Spain. Note the tiny heel-less slippers and the La Saya y Manto, the skirt and the 'cover'. The skirt was generally voluminous like a Spanish dancer's and sometimes tight around the bottom outlining the body very definitely. A typical Moorish silhouette, the colours were dark red, mauve or blue while the cover was generally black. Schiaparelli uses all these elements in her designs.
