NETHERLANDS-SOMALIA-PIRACY-ARRESTS

A picture released on March 16, 2010 by the EU Navfor shows the destroyed 10-metre-long (30-foot) whaler off the Somali coast. On March 14 the "mother ship" whaler with two suspected pirates on board was intercepted off the Somali coast as well as two other smaller vessels with the remaining seven suspects on board after an attempt to highjack the German owned Lubeck ship. "The Dutch frigate Tromp disarmed three boats with nine suspect pirates" and a large amount of weapons, including AK-47 assault rifles and a rocket launcher, the Dutch defense minstry reported. All the equipment was confiscated and the mother ship was destroyed. The Netherlands is currently taking part in an EU anti-piracy mission off the Somali coast. / EU NAVFOR/HO  ( automatický překlad do češtiny  ) ( zobrazit originální popisek v angličtině )
