Nepal - Ghorepani - Elderly woman carried on back down mountain path

High in the Nepali Himalayan foothills, an elderly woman is carried downhill by a relative for medical attention. On this mountain path that continues downhill to the nearest village, beyond which there is a road and transport to the nearest hospital, two men accompany the elder family member with overnight possessions. The old lady sits on a makeshift carrying chair that fits on to the back of a man who stoops under the weight of his human load. This area is known as the Annapurna Sanctuary in central Nepal, a popular trekking and adventure route to the highest Himalayan peaks.
