JORDAN-COSMETICS-ECONOMY-DEADSEA

TO GO WITH AFP SOTRY BY RANDA HABIB A Jordanian man stands behind packages of Dead Sea sking care and beauty products at a shop in the Jordanian capital Amman on March 15, 2010. Jordan seeks to compete with neighbouring Israel in dominating a major cosmetics industry based on the world-famous Dead Sea minerals, by organising the market and introducing them to the medical sector. Producing mud masks, bath salts and other beauty and skin care products, the country's 21-year-old industry fights to survive and compete with Israel, which has many years of experience in the field. Landlocked between Jordan, Israel and the West Bank, the Dead Sea is the world's lowest and saltiest body of water, and legends say Queen of Sheba believed in its healing powers, while Cleopatra of Egypt built a spa there. /KHALIL MAZRAAWI  ( automatický překlad do češtiny  ) ( zobrazit originální popisek v angličtině )
