Splinter damage to HMS Sheffield. The light cruiser had been shadowing the Bismarck at the time of the Ark Royal's last air attack, she was sighted coming out of the mist and fired upon by the German battleship. Splinters from the exploding 38 cm projectiles wounded twelve men, three of whom later died. The Sheffield's radar action was also put out of action, preventing her from continuing the shadowing that night.
