Helene Weigel, German actress with Berliner Ensemble

Helene Weigel (1900-1971), German actress, second wife of the playwright Bertolt Brecht. She joined the Communist Party in 1930, and became Artistic Director of the Berliner Ensemble after her husband\'s death in 1956.
