Funerary equipment of Queen Isa-em-Kheb:a mummified gazelleA coffin and mummy of a gazelle from the 21st Dynasty, as discovered by Professor Maspero at Thebes in Upper Egypt, during his investigation in April 1881. Egyptologist Ameila Edwards writes in the accompanying article in the Illustrated London News, "The mummified gazelle is embalmed entirely, and enclosed in an admirably-modelled case, stuccoed and painted. Part of the case is broken, and shows the bandaged hind legs of the mummy inside. The poor gazelle was probable a pet of the deceased queen, and was slain in order that it might accompany her to the next world." Date: Ancient Egyptian (21st Dynasty) ( automatický překlad do češtiny ) ( zobrazit originální popisek v angličtině ) | ||
