Food Crisis: Ethiopia

A man visits his son's grave in a refugee camp in Suola, near the Eritrean border, Afar region, Ethiopia on Dec. 12, 2008. His son died of starvation. Over 4,000 people have fled across the border since mid November 2008. A lingering drought in Eritrea has caused thousands of Eritreans to loose nearly all their goats and camels, and due to rising food costs no one can afford to buy food. When the Eritrean military began abducting young Afari males, the people began fleeing for safety across the border into neighboring Ethiopia.
