Dr. Albert V. Crewe

Dr. Albert V. Crewe, a professor in the University of Chicago's department of physics, and the Enrico Fermi Institute, displays 5/20, a photograph of single thorium atoms magnified one million times, made with an electron microscope he designed and built. For the first time single atoms were visible within a molecular structure, he said, and he feels that the microscope would be a tool for scientists and doctors who are attempting to develop a cure for cancer.
