Doctor battling 9-11 illnesses dies of cancerJune 14, 2006, New York, New York, USA: June 14, 2006 - New York, New York, USA: Dr. Stephen Levin, MD, Associate Professor of Community and Preventive Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Co-Director of the World Trade Center Medical Monitoring Program, in his office. Levin died 2/7/2012 of cancer at age 70. As the medical director of Mount Sinai Medical Center's Irving J. Selikoff Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Levin conducted research that proved the existence of 9/11-caused ailments. After he stepped down as head of the Selikoff center in 2006, Levin continue to treat WTC patients and to fight for funding from a resistant federal government.
