View of the Central Avenue leading to the Crystal Palace in south London at the time of the annual Brass Band Festival. Bands from all over the country took part. In the circular bandstand on the right a Temperance Band are playing. Crystal Palace had been the venue for this annual Festival since 1900, when there were approximately 20,000 amateur brass bands in the UK.
