Cambridge May WeekMusicians play at the Cambridge Rugby Club party on 'Suicide Sunday' during the University of Cambridge May Week on June 15 2008. Suicide Sunday, named after the 'suicidal' non-stop partying, is the first Sunday after exams have finished and students can let their hair down following a year of hard work. May Week, which actually occurs in June, is the name used within the university to refer to a period of ten days following the end of the academic year. Originally May Week took place in the week before year-end exams began in May. The end of exams is a cause for heavy celebration among the university students. Highlights of the week include balls, garden parties and the intercollegiate rowing race known as the May Bumps. During this time, students get an opportunity to relax after the year's academic discipline. | Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
